“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere … No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalm 84: 10-11
The world is broken; we are broken; both are true. And it’s true that we long for the return of our King and the final and fully realized establishment of His kingdom. But, God in His loving goodness has gifted us with a beautiful world full of beautiful things that reveal aspects of His character. While these beautiful things point to even more beautiful things, the world is beautiful, nonetheless, and reminds us of who God is and how much He loves and wants His people to enjoy Him. Many Christians, unfortunately, are trapped by a mindset that views God’s material blessings as things to be avoided, at worst, and to be compartmentalized away from “spiritual things” as possibly not profitable, at best.
A Day In His Court has the expressed purpose of interacting with God’s good material gifts as just that – gifts from God that are under His domain, in His court, and gifts that are to be enjoyed and interacted with as gifts to the praise and glory of our God and King. To that end, the contributors to this site will interact with their subject matter (be it food, music, literature, et al.) as traditionally-conservative, orthodox Trinitarians. At times, their faith will be explicit in the article, but not always. However, as subjects of King Jesus, all articles on A Day In His Court reflect our allegiance and thankfulness to our Creator God for allowing us to enjoy aspects of His Court as we await the return of King Jesus.
