The Personhood Argument for Abortion

With the advances in ultrasound technology, especially the development of 3D ultrasound, pro-abortion advocates have changed tactics. It’s become next to impossible to convince people that a fetus isn’t a human life. For many who are pro-abortion, the argument now centers on personhood. Building on Judith Jarvis Thomson’s landmark paper “A Defense of Abortion,” the argument states that a fetus’ right to life is subservient to a woman’s right to choose.

Time to restart this series that I blatantly stole from Tim Challies. To be fair, Challies didn’t invent the idea of aggregate sites and posts (maybe he did, I don’t know, I didn’t research it). Regardless, when I was posting these over a year ago, people seemed to like ’em. So, I’ll give it another shot.

Below are links to blog posts and articles from the past week that I’ve found interesting and/or edifying. The weekend is coming, maybe you’ll find some reading material among the links.

I write a lot of articles. To be frank, I promptly forget many of them. Not this one, though. Below is a link to one of my favorite articles that I’ve written for PJ Media. And that’s all the lead-in/hype that I believe the article needs. Click the link below to read it.

Abortion IS Murder

Last night while at a party, I had the privilege of listening to a friend from church talk very briefly about her labors on the Hill to protect the lives of the unborn. Our church is blessed to have several people who are actively involved in combating our society’s horrific holocaust of babies. One young lady is the director of a crisis pregnancy center that offers free medical care to poor mothers and undocumented immigrant mothers. One would think that liberal-leaning professing Christians would applaud her work to care for mothers who are often alone and who are struggling emotionally, materially, and spiritually. But, no, progressive Christians offer some of the sharpest rebukes and attacks on her labors.

Abortionist – “The heads that get stuck that we can’t get out.”

Did you know that the baby-murdering industry (colloquially called “abortion”) has an annual trade show? If you’re like me, and you weren’t aware of that, then, like me, you’re probably also not surprised that they do. You’re also probably not surprised that the baby-murdering industry tries to keep it a secret. From their perspective, they do so for good reason.

Even while facing persecution for seeking to save the lives of babies, David Daleiden and his brave, honorable laborers at The Center for Medical Progress went undercover at the National Abortion Federation’s trade show this past April. The preview to the upcoming videos they’ve produced needs very little comment. I will say three things, though.

Meet Willie Parker, a ‘Christian’ Abortion Provider

Confession – I have a hard time feeling charitable towards professing Christians who support abortion. Without any hint of hyperbole, it’s like trying to feel charitable towards professing Christians who supported Hitler’s holocaust. How anyone who claims to follow Jesus can support the murder of babies is beyond me. But, some do. Even worse, some abortion “doctors” claim to be Christians, too.

The Persecution of David Dalieden and Anti-Abortion Activists

planned parenthood

by John Ellis

David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress again find themselves the targets of leftist persecution. By exposing the wickedness of Planned Parenthood and seeking to defend and protect babies, Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress has transgressed leftist ethics. For progressivism, righteousness is of no concern when it threatens the leftist agenda, and those who righteously challenge that agenda must be punished and silenced. Make no mistake, just because Daleiden doesn’t have to worry about being used as a human torch to illuminate Nero’s orgies, that doesn’t mean that he and his organization aren’t being persecuted for the sake of righteousness.
