Today, the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood released the Nashville Statement affirming a Biblical view of sexuality, marriage, and gender/sex. Signees include Karen Swallow Prior, John Piper, and Mark Dever. Please read my short article about it that I wrote for PJ Media, and consider adding your name to the document, too. A link to the Nashville Statement is provided in my article, and my article is linked to below.

Christian Schools’ Coming Waterloo

A_TransGender-Symbol_Plain1by John Ellis

At the onset, I must admit that my title is a shameless ripoff of Carl Trueman. In July, writing for First Things, Trueman warned that lgbtq rights in conjunction with Title IX may very well prove to be Christian colleges’ Waterloo. Sadly, and apart from the intervention of our sovereign God, I’m afraid that Trueman is correct.

Male Rompers Are the Enemy of the Sexual Revolution

male romper

by John Ellis

Male rompers are ridiculous; let’s get that out of the way up front. However, ridiculous is not a synonym with offensive. If I find out that any of my guy friends sport a male romper, I will good-naturedly-ish mock them, but I will remain friends with them and acknowledge that wearing a male romper is not necessarily a sinful choice. A ridiculous choice, yes. Sinful choice, nope, depending on the reason, but that’s currently neither here nor there.

Apparently, I’m more “open-minded” (in whatever ways that nonsensical tag is defined in your mind) than are the evangelists for the sexual revolution. You see, according to the thought police identity-politics police who are popularly called social justice warriors, the male romper is offensive, demonstrates male fragility, and propagates an identity that needs to be erased from our culture. Unlike social justice warriors, and while admitting that I find the outfit dumb looking, I will defend the rights of my misguided and aesthetically-challenged friends who make the mistake of wearing a male romper.[1]

Gender identity confusion is one of the main weapons in the sexual revolution’s arsenal as it continues to wreak havoc in our society. Flaunting their desired independence from their Creator, transgender rights activists are busy sowing the seeds of lies and confusion in the minds of our children. School districts that are standing firm against the perversion of God’s law are finding themselves the defendants in lawsuits. However, a recent teenage boy in Pennsylvania is taking the fight to those who seek to compel others to join in their rebellion against God.

Weekend Reading: 3/18

I freely and happily admit that I have cribbed this idea from many other writers and bloggers. So be it. A good idea is a good idea, right? There is so much content vying for our attention on the internet, it’s often hard to find the diamond in the rough, so to speak. Although, there are plenty of diamonds hidden throughout the interwebs. That fact means that aggregate sites are useful, and websites and blogs that devote articles and posts to serving as an aggregate for interesting and/or useful content are likewise useful. While I have next to zero desire for this blog to become an aggregate site, or even provide daily posts that offer some help to my friends and readers uncovering some diamonds that they may have missed, a weekly post seems fun for me and possibly profitable for others.

Below, are several of the more interesting articles and blog posts that I read over the last week. Enjoy.

President Donald Trump, Transgenderism, and God’s Law

Last week, President Trump revoked the transgender bathroom guidelines implemented by President Obama. With the guidelines, President Obama had instructed public schools to allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice. Withholding federal dollars was the big stick behind the guidelines. President Obama was clear; fall in line with the new sexual/gender mores or face the wrath of the federal government. Implemented less than a year after the Obergefell ruling by SCOTUS, President Obama’s transgender bathroom directive was an alarming signal to social conservatives that liberals had pushed the sexual revolution agenda’s pedal to the metal.

The Gospel and Transgenderism: Part 2 (Words Matter)

A_TransGender-Symbol_Plain1by John Ellis

Having previously set the stage by defining and detailing God’s story, the discussion can now turn to how transgenderism fits within the parameters of gender established by the Bible. Unfortunately, defenders of transgenderism often use shifting parameters that are, at times, self-refuting[1]. Thankfully, followers of King Jesus are able to lean on the transcendent and absolute truth of the Bible for guidance. God’s word is sure.

For many, however, words are a funny thing. Or, rather, words have no fixed meaning but are merely symbols of a specific set of circumstances fluidly experienced by a culturally shaped individual. For those people, human words are not sure and neither are God’s words.
